Wednesday night

And all is quiet. Well, it should be _ it's after 11.30! I'm nearly off to bed. It was my day off today, which meant lots of Patrick time. Which is great, but oy! Tiring. :) He's full of energy and enthusiasm for oh .... everything.
We played a rousing game of "Where's Patrick" on Monday night, which went over a treat and today he kept flinging his arms above his head. I have no idea why but I suppose he was full of the joys of spring, or something. Maybe.
I've started walking in the mornings again. Just for 20 minutes at the moment and I'm going to build on that. My goal is to get to a secondhand bookstore that is well more than 20 minutes away from home, but I'm hoping that by starting relatively small, I won't be discouraged. :) And it's nice, you know, to get out. The streets are pretty quiet, so I pop along, listening to music and looking at people's gardens. It doesn't sound like much when you write it down, but the way I see it is, it's better than not going. Fresh air, time to myself ... can't argue with that. :)
Work is going along too. It's weird and quiet now, though, and kind of a little bit sad. We start training on a new system come Monday, so that should provid exercise for the old brain cells.
I'm still picking away at the hyacinth but I haven't got much done this week; the walking means I need to shift my patterns around a little bit, I think. I'm just not sure where to fit the stitching in now, except in tiny fits and starts. H'm. That requires some thinking.
The kind of thinking you do with your eyes closed in a dark room.
Nite!

I hate it when that happens!

I rang my money this morning (pay day) and there's considerably less than I was expecting, which means something hasn't gone through, and it's too early to ring work to find out.
*Sigh*
It means there'll be more next time but between now and then I'll have banks and suchlike to contend with. So, hopefully, if I stick to my policy of being polite to them, we'll be okay for another fortnight (grrrr).
Not a lot else happening. It's cold here at the moment, though! It's starting out to be a very funny summer; we had really hot days earlier this week, now I've got the heater on!
Patrick is still cutting an eye tooth (ouch!) which isn't really much fun for any of us, but he seems to have had only one bad day on Monday with it.
Work's been okay, kind of busy with people off on holiday, but it seems to be settling back down now.
I have about 10 days off next month, and boy, am I looking forward to them!

I've started writing again _ Jeremy fixed up an old laptop for me, so I'm portable (yay!) and it seems to be working (fingers crossed).
That's really all I have for now.
Photos next time.
Maybe.

Three weeks today ... woo hoo!

I finish work until July on April 19. I'm soooooooooooo tired at the moment, and soooooooooooooo looking forward to it! I'm going to sit on the couch a lot and try not to throw things at J. He doesn't deserve to have things thrown at him, so I'll do my best to resist.
No guarantees, though. Day off yesterday, and I got breakfast in bed, which was nice but I'm not sure if I"ll do it again; our bed doesn't have a solid headboard so could have been more comfortable. It was a beautiful day, though and I actually got some stitching done. I have (reluctantly) abandoned my rotation so I can get this wedding present for my friend finished. Two pages down, two to go; so we'll see what happens after that. And after baby's here, etc ...
I have two days off next week because of Easter. Wednesday, which is my regular rostered day and Thursday, because we don't publish on Good Friday. Two days. In. A. Row.
I asked to be taken off what I'm doing at work for the next three weeks; I just feel like it requires a level of concentration I don't really have at the moment. Deputy: Why? That's easy.
Me: (not saying it out loud) Yeah, for you! For me right now it's the equivalent of developing a coherent space-time theory! I asked Deputy about it because Chief is next to useless with stuff like that. So, hopefully next week I'll be doing something less stressful for the next few weeks. We'll see.
I dreamed about Leo last night. I keep dreaming about us finding him in strange places. Last night it was in a cardboard box at like a school, or a polytech. He was in with a bunch of other cats. And, for some reason, he had a colostomy bag. Gotta love the pregnancy dreams. The midwife came on Tuesday and my blood pressure is still good (yay). Baby is measuring about 34.5cm and she quite cheerfully told me I was measuring basically full term. What? What? What? But I'm 5'1. Which means there's only one way for baby to go: Out. I keep compulsively making lists in my head of what we still need to get. Maybe I should actually write it down .... hmmmmm ....

Redecorating

Sort of, anyway. I was kind of over the pink; so switched the template. I'm liking it. I don't have a lot to say today .... One month and one day (woo hoo) until I go off work; can you tell I'm looking forward to it? I'd stop work now if I could, but that's not the way my cookie has crumbled. Just. Four. More. Weeks. I can do it.
I'm back on track with things a little better; getting back into my rotation, which is easier now that the weather has shifted to cold and crappy (hooray!) and I'm managing _ just! _ to stick to my week-about plan. I'm also slowly but surely working my way through some review books for work; I'm hoping to make off with a bunch when I go on leave. So the more I get done now, the more chance I have. Heh.
Cats are okay; still no Leo. :(
That's all I have.

Hey, it's Thursday ...

... what am I doing here? Don't worry, I don't know either!
Had the glucose test on Tuesday; very boring and that drink wasn't as bad as others had made out. The results go straight to the midwife, so hopefully I won't hear from her until her next visit. In this case, no news will be good news, because it means I wouldn't have to go for the fasting blood test to diagnose gestational diabetes.
Baby is doing fine. My uterus is his soccer field. Hooray. Go baby!
A workmate of mine had her baby yesterday (on Valentine's Day) and I"m all jealous and wanting MY baby _ yes, yes, I know, he's got quite a bit of baking to do yet! But M's wee girl is beautiful :)
Another workmate of mine is switching jobs; within the company, so she won't be working nights anymore. It'll be awfully quiet without her but the new job will suit her, so I'm happy for her.
My rotation (hopefully) is back on track after finishing the bookmark for my sister.
We had to take Marx to the vet on Tuesday afternoon, the right side of his face suddenly swelled like a balloon. Abscess *sigh*. So he had surgery yesterday and has a shunt in the side of his face, which looks very odd! Poor boy.
That's all for now.

Move it move it

I have a new obsession. Counting to 10 _ the minimum number of times the baby is supposed to move in a day. As soon as I've counted to 10, I can go about my business quite happily. Of course, the baby doesn't know I'm counting, and waiting, so some days take longer than others, making for a very anxious mother. Good grief.
We're getting pretty well-stocked now, and have most 'big-ticket' things. I bought a baby monitor yesterday so of the big stuff all that's left is a cot mattress, maybe a bassinett and a high chair, later on. Otherwise we just need clothes, nappies, stuff like that. There are times when flirting with OCD can be a good thing.
Argh. If I'm not careful, this will turn into a baby only blog. And while I'm finding the whole process fascinating and scary and worrying, never having gone through it before, I'm not sure what the rest of the world thinks.
So. Work is fine. Short-staffed this week (hooray) and still nothing on the promotion. I've put my leave forms in and now it's just a matter of waiting.
Cats all seem to be fine, apart from JD who has developed some impressive mats on his back. I managed to cut out a couple the other night, but he's been a bit absent lately and getting the bigger ones is a two-man job _ he's not the friendliest of cats at all.
I seem to be doing okay on my January goals, except I decided to start rotatering again.
It's one of my goals now for '07 _ stick to the same rotation plan for the whole year and see how successful I am. I have great focus when I bend my mind to it but I'm also very easily distracted by shiny things.
It's raining (wherefore art thou, summer?) and is the perfect day for either lazing on the couch reading, or lazing on the couch stitching.
Ah ... to still have the luxury of choice!
